Magento’s powerful marketing, search engine optimization and catalog-management tools give merchants the power to create ecommerce sites that are tailored to their unique business needs.

Users who installs Magento using our Installatron Application Installer can also upgrade Magento using Installatron (only if you do not have additional extensions, themes, etc). Make sure you perform a backup of your current installation before upgrade.

Users can upgrade using the Magento Connect Manager themselves but please make sure you have proper backups of all files and database before doing so.

Please Note: We do NOT recommend upgrading a production installation of Magento directly. Please backup database and all files before upgrading. Please make sure to check file permissions before trying to upgrade through your Magento Connect Manager.

Joomla version 1.5.19 and 1.5.20 Security Releases are now available for download and upgrade.

Please Note: Since Database upgrade from EAV to flat sales might be a very heavy operation and can take up to several hours depending on number of orders and environment, please make sure to test the upgrade on a non-production environment and make sure the max_execution_time PHP option has appropriate large value that can handle this operation. We do NOT recommend upgrading a production installation of Magento directly. Please backup database and all files before upgrading. Please make sure to check file permissions before trying to upgrade through your Magento Connect Manager.We highly recommend disabling Magento cache before upgrading.

Important Note 1: If the Magento Compilation Module is enabled it must be disabled before attempting to upgrade. After upgrading is done, click on “Run Compilation Process” to process and enable it again.

Important Note 2: If you are running Magento version older than 1.4.x in a cluster environment and are using a shared cache (e.g. Memcached) you will now need to also make sure to configure Magento to use Database as the “slow” backend cache.

Users who installs Magento using our Installatron Application Installer currently CANNOT upgrade Magento using Installatron yet, until all upgrade issues are sorted out since this new version is a little different from previous versions.

Users can upgrade using the Magento Connect Manager themselves but please make sure you have proper backups of all files and database before doing so.

This release mainly fixes an upgrade issue that was experienced while upgrading through Magento Connect Manager and a cache issue in specific environments.

We highly recommend disabling Magento cache before upgrading.

Since version 1.4.0.0 for security reasons the trace in the Magento error report page is disabled by default. The “Error log number” does not give any information about the error. To enable the trace copy the errors/local.xml.sample to errors/local.xml and follow the instructions described in that file.
